The GP30 “Obuvka” under-barrel grenade launcher was developed by Tula designer Valery Telesh and adopted into service in 1989. It proved to be more effective and less expensive than its predecessor, the GP25 “Koster”. With a maximum range of 400 meters, the GP30 is one of the best under-barrel anti-infantry grenade launchers in the world. The fact that the weapon can be mounted on any Kalashnikov assault rifle made it possible to design rifle grenade launcher systems for special-purpose units of the Armed Forces, Federal Security Service, and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The device for noiseless and flameless fire allows the shooter to remain undetected.
